[Uniforms] orange cuffs and collars

Dear sirs and Ladies, I am of the understanding that the confederate army had cetain colors to represent artillery, infantry, and all the combat trades. However during a televised college football game the announcer stated that university of TN,s orange color was the color of cuffs and collar on the states individual militia uniforms during the civil war. Hence the baby blue of north carolina tar heels repesents the color of their state miltia. He further named a few other colors of the states miltia tabs. I am aware there was damn little standardisation in the confederate army, but I have seen these afore mentioned colors on some confederate uniforms. Could you please shed some light on this amtter for me. REPECTFULL GEORGE PAINTER
