I'm interested in discovering the orgin and intent of the Army leadership with the introduction of the "combat patch" worn by US Army soldiers who had participated in combat near the end of WWII and since. None of the other services have a similiar regulation. Today soldiers are being awarded the same option, the option to wear their unit patch for having served in Iraq or other areas of the world involved in the war on terror. I can't seem to find why the Army decided to do this.
