Re: [Mexican War] Treatment of Prisoners

Will,

Have you seen "The Chronicles of the Gringos, The US Army in the Mexican War, 1846-1848 (University of New Mexico, 1968)?

In Chapter V, pp. 232-233, there is an account by Dr. Elisha Kent Kane (Assistant Surgeon, US Navy) of the alleged mistreatment of Mexican officers who were POW's by the Mexican Spy Company, part of the US Army.

It sheds light on the way prisoner officers should not be treated.
