Thanks for the reference--I finally was able to read iut. What's especially distressing is that General Anastasio Torrejon, one of the captives of the Spy Company, commanded a detachment of Mexican cavalry which captured Dragoon Captains Seth Thorton and William Hardee at Rancho Carricitos in 1846. By all accounts, General Torrejon treated his prisoners with kindness and dignity. No good deed goes unpunished.
