I continue to have great difficulty in getting reliable information about the South Carolina Council of Safety in the Revolutionary War. Members here have helped me with other states, but South Carolina is proving a tough nut for me to crack... I am especially interested in finding answers to the following questions:
1. Where can I locate transcriptions, books, sources, etc. of the act of the Council of Safety that would have set forth the details of the draft for the South Carolina militia. Most of what I find does not pertain to my interest. I am most interested in the year 1779.
2. How would this draft have worked? What were the "procedures most likely to be" in notifying someone that they had been drafted? I would like to also know the conditions for exemption, how "lax" was this draft applied, what happened if you refused to be drafted, etc.
