Thanks for your help. I e-mailed the US Army Quartermaster Museum, got a response in about 20 minutes and had the 1895 specs for the field artillery guidon faxed. A few years ago I would have had to drive to the nearest library with the Annual report of the Secretary of the Army, San Francisco for me, and do the search myself. It would have taken me 10-12 hours. In this internet age I posted on this site, got a very helpful response from Tom and had what I was looking for in minutes without leaving my desk. Amazing! Thanks again for the advice.
