The Continental Marines did not wear blue coats. They wore green coats faced white & in 1779 the facings were changed to red with the white staying in use until new issues of clothing as was typical of the period. The United States Marine Corps wore blue coats faced red when re-formed in 1798. Green coats ( With buff facings this time around ) made a short comeback in the 1830's.
