I just received three ww1 shoes all dated with original marks and depots. The 1918 is identical in sole construction to the 1917's with the addition of the rivets where the vamp meets the quarters and the shape of the heel counter is changed slightly to allow for the addition of the third row of stitching. what appears to be three soles are in fact two soles and a welt. Two are unissued and have hobnails installed probably at time of manufacture.
