Thank you for your expert help. It would appear that when Harper’s Weekly stated that this unit was to be equipped like the 16th British Lancers that the magazine only met armed like and not dressed like. Because Colonel Rankin and many of the officers and men were Canadians the unit was disband. Below is a link to a questionable illustration in Harpers Weekly of the unit. The Detroit newspaper clearly saw the undress uniform or at least a sample uniform and it was a triple-breasted green jacket and blue trousers.
