[WW I] Who Won the War?

WHO WON THE WAR?

In reply to the constant and unending barrage of belittlement, denigration and disparagement, both past and present, of the value of American participation in land combat during World War I, I would ask those who write these scurrilous slanderings the following three questions:

1. What would have happened to France, and to the rest of Europe, if General Foch had not hurriedly dispatched the 7th Motorized Machine Gun Battalion (U. S. 3rd Division of Regulars) to Ch‚teau-Thierry at the end of May, 1918, for the purpose of stopping the Germans from crossing the Marne River at that point? Question: Didnít Foch have any French Army troops to send there? Why choose the 7th Motorized Machine Gun Battalion?

2. What would have happened to France, and to the rest of Europe, if General Foch had not turned the U. S. 2nd Division of Regulars around and sent it to bar the German passage along the Metz-Paris Road in early June of 1918? Didnít General Foch have any French Army divisions to place across the Paris-Metz Road? Why did he have to send the U. S. 2nd Division?

3. What would have happened to France, and to the rest of Europe, had General Foch not sent the U. S. 3rd Division of Regulars (and its 38th ďRock of the MarneĒ Infantry Regiment to stand on the banks of the Marne River on 15 July 1918? Didnít General Foch have any French Army divisions to put along the Marne River? Why did he have to send the U. S. 3rd Division there?
