I am posting this inquiry for another party who is interested in finding out what members may know about storage of small arms ammunition (in relatively small quantities) by US, British or French forces during the American Revolution. The quantities he's interested in would be in the few hundred to few thousand rounds range. For example, was there any equivalent to the American Civil War 1,000 round crates for small arms cartridges? I recall that Cuthbertson (I think) suggested storage in hide-covered barrels. Anyhow, anything anyone has to contribute about this, we'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.
