[Gen'l Info] Bugle

I was given an old bugle back in 1960 by an elderly friend of the family. He was around 90 years old at that time and he told me that it was carried in the civil war by one of his relatives. I lost contact with the bugle until 3 months ago and it turned up at my mothers house in some boxes. The bugle has some initials and dates on the bell but some of them are faded and can't be read. What I could make out reads as follows:

F&?(can't read that)
Chicago
Spec 11
8-28-17

I'm just trying to determine how old the bugle is and a little bit about the company that made it. Any help would be appreciated. Harold Renfroe
