This post caught my intrest because I've researched 3-pounder bronze guns made in the US prior to the Civil War, by Ames. This is the first such gun by Alger I've heard of.

Ames, of Springfield, and Chicopee MA, made many 3-pounders, which were essentially a 1/2-scale US 6 pounder gun, M1841. If you'd like to share information, let me know. I'd be interested in any and all markings you can find on the piece, pictures, and a few basic measurements.
