I'm completely new to this, my first google on the subject. I have received a number of items passed down to me from an ancestor, H.W.Barrett, who was according to family accounts, a Union spy. They are mostly paper documents, mostly letters inside of a folding leather wallet. My understanding is that they are mostly items of military intellegence that he captured. The largest piece is a four page letter detailing the fortifications of Mobile Bay, 3 pages of hand written text detailing batteries, strategy, ships scuttled in the harbor etc. and a full page hand drawn map. Google is too much of a muddle, surely someone here can direct me to whom might be most interested in this information and researching it's significance?
