I was in the National Archives yesterday and asked about the "Webster Greys." The archives has two scarce books of nicknames for Union and Confederate regiments respectively. This name was not in either volume, although there was a "Webster Guards."

The clerk suggested, since there were many militia units that weren't federalized (or Southern equivalent), if you have an idea what state might be involved, contact that state's Adjutant General.
