Re: [Weapons] Ellis sliding-lock repeating flintlo

Thanks John.
I am seeking information on the issues of smallarms and accoutrements to the Regular Army Dragoon, Mounted Rifleman and Cavalry during the period 1833-1860. For some reason this information is not readily available in any NA (or other)publications that I am aware of. During the Civil War a system of Quarterly Returns of Ordnance etc. on hand in regiments was compiled into large format summary statements which I have been able to access on microfilm, but there seems to be no equivalent record for the period 1833-1860 and I have no idea where any similar records - we KNOW the army would have required such returns - are to be found. If they are in RG156 they are not easily identified. I wonder if they were sent to the Adjutant General or Inspector General's Departments?
I will be most grateful for any information on where I might look for this material as I wish to include it in work I am preparing. Any contributions will be acknowledged in the work.
Thank you for any advice.
