Mr. Farrington, I don't know if this kind of info will help you or not. I was in the National Archives earlier this week and went through a number of entries in RG156. These pictures are of some of the pages within some very large ledger books under citation shown in one of the images. The records show small arms in the possession of the regular army, by unit. There are many of these bulky ledger books covering a relatively long period of time. I'm not familiar enough with the small arms issued during that period to know precisely what the column titles under "muskets" mean. You will probably have to use the zoom control on your browser to see these clearly enough, and I apologize for the poor quality of some of the images.
