Re: Small arms in the regular army 1833

Here's a blown-up corner of one of the sheets, so you can see how the small arms were reported and recorded. Can someone tell me what the various categories mean? "Muskets complete" is pretty clear, but what is "N.A. new browned?" if that's what the second category is. What's the third column mean "N.A. new bright?" Could "N.A." mean "National Arsenal" as opposed to "contract?" Is "contract ..." specific to any model of musket, given the year this ledger is for?
