The photo shows two different iron medium-sized thunder mugs on the right and left.

The item in the center has not yet been positively identified, but we think it is an early pyrotechnic mortar. Unlike the thunder mugs, it lacks a vent to ignite the charge, so to fire it, a quickmatch would be led down the side of the bore, much as with a modern commercial display pyro mortar.

If anyone can positively ID the thing in the center, please advise.
