I purchased what was listed as an 1850s Royal Navy Rear Admiral's frock coat in the 1970s. I purchased it from a reputable militaria dealer here in the U.S., and believed it to be as was listed. However, I now wish to sell this item and would like to make sure that the coat is authentic. Can anyone in this organization tell me of a source to use. Nothing in my local library has been of any use. I did send an email with photos to the library at the Royal Naval Museum, but I have no idea how long it will take them to respond and I would like to also move on this myself. Thank you.
