If you are doing any research on that timeframe, I recommend you try searching this relatively new website. It has apparently imaged and stored a large number of diverse holdings around the country, in an attempt to fill in the gap left by the fire that destroyed the War Department's papers in 1800.

I have no idea whether most of the Company members know about this site or not, if you do, forgive me for wasting your time. If you don't maybe you'll find some useful information there-I have found some very useful things there already.
