Am putting up U.S. military mannequin displays for a new, small local museum. Query: For the November, 1942 invasion of North Africa, in what would a GI have carried his 16" 1905 Springfield bayonet? The leather and canvas covered issue?
Ditto for a Marine stepping ashore on Guadalcanal 7 August,'42. Could either have been issued the plastic scabbard?
AND, for the North African campaign, what form of American flag was on the troopers' sleeves: arm band or simple sew-on?
Thanks!
