[Weapons] Nulification Rifle

I have a Tryon, Phila., half-stock percussion sporting rife, one contracted-for by South Carolina, apparently in the 1840s or early '50s. It's been militarized by turning the muzzle round for an M.1816 bayonet, substituting an iron rammer, and affixing sling swivels. One is to be seen in an 1861 photograph of a S.C. camp scene.

I need information on the piece. I once had a magazine article from the 1960s or '70s detailing the contracts. The Citadel in Charleston has a presentation example, but no info. Thanks.
