I strongly recomend the works of Francis Parkman, specifically, "France and England in North America". It's dated but very good.
No other work describes the difference between the two colonial systems or the hardship and terror of this war as well. He also introduces the main English, French and Colonial characters.
Parkman is pro-english but this is a classic of American literature.
"The West Point Atlas of American Wars" edited by Vincent J. Esposito has excellent maps and an explanation of the campaigns.
