[Civil War] 5th Infantry Regiment NC

Does anyone know anything about this Regiment? I know it had at least Companies A, and E. These were the two companies the four Cook brothers from Chatham, NC enlisted in on July 15, 1962. I read in a Chatham Historical book (Salt Lake City Mormom Family Library) that four Cooks in "1862 were around Richmond fighting. Co. A was organized in Cumberland County and Co E in Rowan County. The four Cook brothers from Chatham were in the two companies. Two were killed and two lost arms." I have since verified the four brothers joined Jul 15, 1962: Abram Rencher, Henry C, James Frank, and Levi H Cook. James Frank was my gggrandfather. Henry died in Prison Camp, Elmira, NY in April 1965 and Abram Rencher died Sep 21, 1962 (don't know where). James Frank and Levi both lost arms. Levi has a picture of himself and family posted on www.lanecamp.org under category "troop roster". Some of this detail may help someone help me identify more information on these brothers and the Regiment they served in. Thanks.
