Re: [War w/Spain] stateside training camps 1898

See also "The Spanish-American War: The Story and Photographs", by Donald M. Goldstein, Katherine V. Dillon, J. Michael Wenger, and Robert J. Cressman, 1998 Prange Enterprises (reprint 2000 Brassey's Inc., Dulles, VA).

There were a lot more camps in existence than those you can find listed in any one particular source. Every state had their own camp(s) for their own state militias, as well as the national camps. The vast majority of assembled troops never made it to the front to see any action, and many died in camp from disease.
