During my time in service, (1977-1995), if used in written form it was generally spelled as "KLICK" to avoid confusion with the phonetically similar "CLICK" that is still used in rifle marksmanship.

So a soldier might be ordered to go two klicks North and adjust his sights two clicks for elevation or windage.
