I was actually able to buy one of these at a flea market in NC about 10 years ago. Don't recall what i paid, but it probably wasn't much. Anyway, the badge itself is exactly like the CIB, except for the red background(painted and, sadly chipped in a few places), and silver crossed cannon superimposed over the musket. On the reverse, A faint outline of the musket is visible, and the crossed cannon is clearly visible. No hallmark. Clutchback.
I also have a much nicer "combat armor badge." The bar is green enamel, with no musket. A stamped, front-view tank with crossed sabers (exactly like the armor officer's collar insignia, but hollowed, actually stamped metal). Again, no hallmark. Clutchback.
I am certain there must be several other varieties of each of these and other CIB-like badges, but have one other, but did not buy it because of it's poor condition. I would be very interested to hear what else is known of these and other similar badges (e.g.; Combat Cavalryman's Badge with yellow background and cross-sabers).
