Photos of battlefield group Saratoga NY

31 Members were greeted by Major General Ray Shields Jr. is the 54th Adjutant General for the State of New York, serving as the commander of the New York Army National Guard since October 4, 2018. He leads a combined force of over 18,000 personnel, including the NY Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Naval Militia, and New York as well as Richard Goldburg , Director of Military History for the NYS Guard who shared the designs for the Museums Expansion . All toured the museum with small groups being escorted to see their 18th Century cannon collection.  Elmer Ellsworth’s unform was a special hit.

Following lunch we traveled to the Saratoga Battlefield Visitor Center where we met our guide . Boarding our bus the members received a detailed overview of battles visiting the Bemus Heights overlook which was the pinch point for Burgoyn’s effort to move toward Albany .

On the way back there was stop at General Philip Schuyler’s country home and the Monuments for the battle located on the same grounds as the British Troops made their last stand.

CMH 75th Annual Meeting

SENATOR INN & SPA, AUGUSTA Maine

Dates: 23-26 MAY 2024

Please find the link above for information and registration form for the 2024 (75th Anniversary) conference of the Company.  We are very happy with our new arrangements in Augusta, Maine, as the Senator Inn facility will allow us to have a larger exhibit area, full banquet and conference spaces, a spa for those who may not want to attend some of the talks, full bar, and nearby to shops and historic sites. Register soon, as we will have to close off annual banquet registration at 120 attendees, the maximum allowed by the Fire Marshal in the ballroom with banquet table arrangements.  We can still accept registration for the conference and tour segments of the annual event.

Many thanks!

James L. Kochan

CMH 2024 Conference Chair
